| Abstract in Lingua Inglese | Robert Visiani, the prominent horticultursl creator and world-famed botanist, studied and elaborated the floristic and ecologic conditions of the island of Lokrum near Dubrovnik. The results of his investigation are printed in the booklet "ON THE VEGETATION AND CLIMATE OF THE ISLAND OF LOKRUM IN DUBROVNIK", Trieste, 1863. A copy can be found in the Scientifico library (Naucna biblioteka), Dubrovnik. Through its 16pages Visiani discusses the whole complex of the natural factors affecting Lokrum and its environment, important for the development of the vegetation cover. Along with his observations of the spontaneous vegetation he also comments on the introduced exotic plants, which work started in 1863. This booklet is a concise and valuable document from the most prominent judge of the littoral and exotic flora. |
