| Abstract in Lingua Inglese | On the occasion of 100th anniversary of Robert Visiani's death the author deals with the, probably, most interesting plant that Visiani determined as a separate species - Dalmatian pine, Pinus dalmatica Visiani. The introduction deals with the viewpoints of various botanists regarding the Dalmatian pine and Pinus nigra Arnold., the black pine. It continues with the area of its spreading, especially on Mount Biokovo, giving the natural characteristics of the Biokovo pines. A particular place in the study is alloted to the phytocoenosis the Dalmatian pine belongs to. The article ends with the problems of its afforestation pointing out its horticultural significance. The autochthonous properties of the Dalmatian pine should be preserved and promoted on the spacious Mount Biokovo near Makarska. |
