| Abstract in Lingua Inglese | We present the result of a research aimed at reconstructing the historical vicissitudes of the herbaria of the Vicenza area and at documenting their present condition. With the help of a previous estimate (Marignoni, 1913) we have been able to verify the present location and consistency of each of them or to document their destruction. At the same time we have been able to verify the existence of other herbaria created in this century. Beyween 1780 and 1950 in the area of Vicenza 41 herbaria were worked out of these, then were definitely destroyed, eleven were lost and are not to be found and only eighteen are still extant. A critical and comparative reading of them has enabled us to outline the value of their contribution to the progress of the botanical knowledge in the Vicenza area. We confirm the interest value of the research on historical herbaria, but also the not very comforting state of their conservation and their difficult traceability. |
